Here are the steps to install the WHS Phone Addin on your Windows Home Server.
Step 1:Download the latest version of the WHS Phone Addin. The latest version can always be found at
http://www.whsphone.com/DownloadStep 2:Add the downloaded MSI file to your Server's "Add-ins" folder. This folder will be under the "Software" share.
Step 3:Log into your Windows Home Server Console.
Step 4:Navigate to "Settings" and then select the "Add-ins" tab.
Step 5:If you are upgrading the WHS Phone Addin then you will first need to uninstall it. If not then ignore this step. Find "WHS Phone" in the "Installed" list and select the "Uninstall" button. After the uninstall is complete it will log you out of the WHS Console. Go back to step 3.
Step 6:Select the "Available" tab, find "WHS Phone" and select the "Install" button.
That is all you need to do.
So what go installed?There are three pieces to the WHS Phone Addin.
- WCF Web Service
- The WHS Phone settings tab. Open WHS Console -> Settings -> WHS Phone
- Notification windows service to watch for new notifications
If you used Remote Desktop and ran the msi manually you will not see the addin in the WHS console. This list is populated by registry settings that are only set when you use the WHS Console to install the addin. You will see the addin in the "Add/Remove Programs" list. You can uninstall it from here and reinstall it from the WHS Console if you want the addin in the console list.
